Fornia Named Attacker of the Week

Two Commodores earn conference honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Fifth-year senior Gabby Fornia was named the American Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week on Monday and senior Callie Sundin earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.

Fornia broke her own Vanderbilt and AAC single-game records for assists (10) and points (13) in Vanderbilt’s 23-7 win over Cincinnati on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

Fornia also scored three times as the Dores clinched the No. 3 seed in this week’s AAC Tournament in Greenville, North Carolina.

Fornia assisted on five consecutive Vanderbilt goals between the first and second quarters as part of a 7-0 run that gave the Commodores a 12-3 lead. Her 10 assists were one shy of the NCAA single-game record. Fornia finished the regular season with 23 goals and a league-leading 53 assists for 76 points.

Sundin scored a career-high six goals, the most by a Commodore this season. Sundin also had an assist to total seven points.
