Fornia Earns IWLCA Weekly Honors

Gabby Fornia named IWLCA Co-Offensive Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Fifth-year senior Gabby Fornia was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association on Tuesday. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, III, and the NAIA each week during the regular season.

Fornia broke her own Vanderbilt and American Athletic Conference single-game records for assists (10) and points (13) in Vanderbilt’s 23-7 win over Cincinnati on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. The performance also earned her AAC Attacker of the Week honors.

Fornia also scored three times as the Dores clinched the No. 3 seed in this week’s AAC Tournament in Greenville, North Carolina.

Fornia assisted on five consecutive Vanderbilt goals between the first and second quarters as part of a 7-0 run that gave the Commodores a 12-3 lead. Her 10 assists were one shy of the NCAA single-game record. Fornia finished the regular season with 23 goals and a league-leading 53 assists for 76 points.
