NASHVILLE – Fresh off a bye week, Vanderbilt hits the road again to face Missouri this Saturday in Columbia. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on SEC Network.

On Tuesday, Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason met with the media to preview the matchup. He was joined by offensive lineman Bruno Reagan, linebacker Josh Smith and defensive lineman Louis Vecchio.

Here’s what the Dores had to say:

• Mason on Missouri, which beat then-No. 11 Florida, 38-17, last week: “I think this football team, coached by Barry Odom, is as hot a football team, as talented a football team as there is out there.”

• Mason said Missouri quarterback Drew Lock: “He’s got some Brett Favre in him. He’s got a little bit of Tom Brady. He can create plays and keep plays alive. He can make the exciting throw.”

• Mason said Missouri’s defense can’t be ignored. “Defensively, they’re good. They’re going to present some issues. We played this team a year ago and they’re very, very similar to the way they were a year ago.”

• What does it take for a team to play well at the end of a season? Mason: “It has to do with health. It has to do with confidence, heading into ballgames late October, early November. The other factor is consistency. What has it been like for you in terms of production?”

• Mason said Vanderbilt redshirt sophomore defensive back Zaire Jones is indefinitely suspended for a violation of student conduct policy and will miss the rest of the 2018 season. “Obviously that’s unfortunate for us, but we’ll see Zaire in January.”

• With Election Day on Tuesday, Mason said several Commodores told him they had voted this week. “I told them it’s a right and make sure you utilize it. Most of those guys had, and I’m proud of them.”

• Smith said Vanderbilt knows what it has to do to close the 2018 season on a high note. “Be consistent in your play. That’s the basic of it. Teams that are being consistent and do things right are the teams who, at the end of the season, are winning ball games. That’s what we need to do.”

• Reagan on the Commodores’ team vibe coming out of the bye week: “Bye weeks are good. Wins after bye weeks are great. That’s what I’ll say about that.”
