Eight Head to Bloomington

Set to compete at NCAA East Region Prelims

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Haley Bishop, Divine Oladipo, Grace Jensen, Taiya ShelbyMcKenzie YanekNicole Anderson, Kaira Brown, and Madison Fuller will all represent Vanderbilt at the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Rounds on Wednesday through Saturday. The four-day competition takes place at Haugh Track & Field on the campus of Indiana University.

“We have an amazing group of ladies representing Vanderbilt at the NCAA East Region prelims. Our coaches and staff have poured into them, and they have answered the call and earned an opportunity to continue their success this season,” said Commodore director of cross country/track and field Althea Thomas. “Within this group we have six school records and five top 10 all-time marks. They all have ignited the team’s pursuit to elevate the program with success and execution throughout the season.”

The quartet of Bishop, Brown, Fuller and Shelby qualified 16th in the 4×400-meter relay, while Anderson, Bishop, Fuller and Shelby will compete as the 21st seed in the 4×100-meter relay. Bishop, in the 100 and 200 meters, and Oladipo, in the shot put and discus, have qualified in two events, respectively. Jensen will contend in the 1,500 meters, Shelby in the 400 meters, and Yanek in the distance endurance race, the 10,000 meters.

Events will begin on Thursday for the Commodores at 5:30 p.m. (CT) with Jensen in the 1,500 meters and conclude at 8:10 p.m. with Yanek in the 10,000 meters semifinal race. Oladipo commences the action for Vandy on Saturday in the discus at noon, with track events wrapping up at 7:45 p.m. with the 4×400 meter relay.

The top 12 finishers in each event will advance to the NCAA Championships hosted by Oregon June 8-11 at Hayward Field.
