Dorsey and Jackson Named Scholars

Vanderbilt seniors recognized by United Soccer Coaches

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nia Dorsey and Grace Jackson added to their historic careers at Vanderbilt with their selection to the Women’s Scholar All-South region team, the United Soccer Coaches announced Monday.

Dorsey was named to the second team with Jackson being named to the third team. Dorsey boasts a 3.75 grade-point average in medicine, health and society and served as Vanderbilt’s captain during the 2019 season.

Dorsey helped lead the defense in one of the program’s best seasons, a defense which allowed 13 goals and posted 11 shutouts. Dorsey played in 83 straight games at Vanderbilt and scored four times with nine assists.

Earlier this season, Dorsey was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. She was a member of the 2018 SEC Community Service Team for her role in the Nashville community.

A two-time All-SEC honoree member and All-Southeast Region second team, Dorsey has been a part of three straight SEC Academic Honor Rolls and five semesters on the dean’s list.

 

Jackson holds a 3.39 cumulative GPA in medicine, health and society throughout her four seasons at Vanderbilt. The Atlanta native represented Vanderbilt thrice on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and two semesters on the dean’s list.

Jackson wrapped up her senior season with one of the best careers in the black and gold. She scored 12 career goals and registered 11 assists in her time in Nashville. Jackson started and played 83 straight games for Vanderbilt, setting a Vanderbilt record for most consecutive starts in program history.

 

 

The last time Vanderbilt took the field without Dorsey and Jackson in the lineup was Nov. 4, 2015, against Florida in a 2-1 loss.
