Dores Ready for Crooked Stick

Vanderbilt to play in Crooked Stick Collegiate Monday and Tuesday

CARMEL, Ind. – The Commodores men’s golf team will be making their first-ever appearance at the Crooked Stick Collegiate this Monday and Tuesday at the Crooked Stick Golf Club, which has hosted such stellar events as the PGA Championship (1991), the U.S. Women’s Open (1993), and the Solheim Cup Matches (2005). The 54-hole event begins Monday morning.

Vanderbilt will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday with Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, Northwestern, Ohio State, Michigan, Kentucky, College of Charleston, Marquette, Cincinnati, Ball State, and UNC Greensboro.

“It’s exciting to go to a new event on another championship golf course such as Crooked Stick,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “I think it’s great for us to go to an unfamiliar course and learn to create a game plan together for the first time. We have to continue to narrow our focus, develop a plan, and be tough enough to stick to the plan. This is our first 36-hole day as well and that’s always a great opportunity to see if we are able to keep our focus and not have as many lapses in our focus. I am so excited about the competitive character this team continues to show and the leadership we have. Our goal is to take another step this week towards being the best team we can be and we need to be excited about that opportunity.”

Vanderbilt will be represented by senior John Augenstein, junior Harrison Ott, sophomores Reid Davenport and Michael Shears, and freshman William Moll.

The Commodores’ day begins with a 8 a.m. CDT shotgun start Monday. Vanderbilt will be paired with Purdue and Northwestern.
