NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt swimming travels to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the fourth scheduled competition of the season when the Commodores face Queens and Richmond in a two-day tri-meet Friday at 3 p.m. CT and Saturday at 9 a.m. CT at the Levine Aquatic Center.

“It’s been nice to be at home and get in a couple good weeks of solid training,” said head coach Jeremy Organ. “We’re looking forward to a two-day meet, which will help prepare us for a three-day event coming up and the SEC Championships—which is five days—at the end of the season. These are pretty important meets coming up competing on back-to-back days and getting used to that schedule.”

Vandy—now 3-2 on the current season—last competed Oct. 15 against North Florida and Georgia Southern at the UNF Aquatic Center. The Dores defeated both host North Florida, 177-85, and Georgia Southern, 175-87. The program had several individuals set season-best times.

The Dores’ finished first in 11 of the 14 total events. Faith Knelson claimed both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Gray Almasi, Eleanor Beers, Jenna Ravarino, Maddie Smith, and Ellie Taliaferro all finished first in their respective events, aiding Vanderbilt in its victory. The Commodores also earned their first relay wins of the campaign, claiming first in the 400 medley and the 800 freestyle relay.

In the only previous meeting in the series with Queens, Vanderbilt had a 190-146 victory over the Royals on Jan. 23-24, 2015, in Columbia, South Carolina. Vanderbilt has not yet competed against Richmond.
