Dores Draw Columbus for NCAA Regionals

Vandy part of 18-team field in Ohio

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s golf team will head to Columbus, Ohio, to start its NCAA postseason run it was announced Wednesday.

Tabbed as the No. 6 seed in Columbus, the Commodores learned their postseason destination during the NCAA Selection Show live on the GOLF Channel. The Columbus Regional will be played May 10-12 on the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State Golf Club.

“We’re excited to head to the Columbus Regional,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen said. “The Scarlet Course is a tough test and it should create some separation. Our girls have been preparing all year for this week.

“We will need to be tough and play with a lot of determination.”

Vandy, an at-large selection, is coming off a sixth-place finish at the SEC Championships earlier this month in Hoover, Alabama. The Dores are ranked 23rd by Golfstat and had three top-five finishes during the 2020-21 regular season.

Vanderbilt, one of 72 teams scheduled to compete in the field, will join 2019 national champion Duke, Arizona State, Virginia, Kent State, Georgia, Michigan, Clemson, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Illinois, New Mexico, Nebraska, Washington, Coastal Carolina, Campbell, Evansville and Youngstown State at the Columbus Regional site.

GOLF Channel will provide highlights from NCAA Regional play leading up to coverage of the NCAA Championships to be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Other 2021 NCAA Regionals will be held at one of three other sites across the country: the University Club (Baton Rouge, Louisiana – LSU), the University of Louisville Golf Club (Louisville, Kentucky – Louisville) and the Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, California – Stanford).

The low six teams and the low three individuals not from those teams from each NCAA Regional will compete at the NCAA Championships set for May 21-26.

The Columbus regional will be played at The Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio and will be hosted by Ohio State. Conference automatic qualifiers are indicated in parenthesis next to the institution.
