Vanderbilt men's tennis takes on Cornell in the opening match of ITA Kickoff Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team looks to bounce back from a competitive loss to No. 17 Michigan State as they travel to Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend hosted by Duke.

The event runs through Sunday, with 14 different host sites across the country. The winner of both matches secures a qualifying spot into the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, taking place in February and hosted by Baylor and SMU.

Vanderbilt (2-1) faces Cornell (1-1) in the opening match of the weekend. The Big Red already have experience against the SEC this season, as they fell to Oklahoma 4-1 on Sunday. The schools have one previous all-time meeting, a 4-3 Commodore victory in 2022. Each team has just a single player from that match still on the roster: senior Michael Ross and Cornell’s No. 23 ranked Radu Papoe.

The winner of tomorrow’s match draws either No. 11 Duke or Old Dominion on Sunday. Play is slated for a 3 p.m. start with live streaming available online. Live stats can be accessed here at the start of the match. For more information, updates, and exclusive game day content, follow the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team, @VandyMTennis, on Instagram and X.
