ATHENS, Ga. – The Vanderbilt swimming team kicked off opening-meet action at the SEC Championships on Wednesday with a pair of relays at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
The Commodores opened the championships with a 10th-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team comprised of Abby Burke, Lizzy Colwell, Tonner DeBeer and Eleanor Beers clocked in at 1:40.67. The time was the second-fastest for the Dores this season.
Capping the evening with the 800-yard freestyle relay, Beers teamed with Alina Stout, Taylor Ward and Krislyn Porter for a 7:27.00. Stout and Porter contributed lifetime-best swims in the event.
In team scoring through two events, the Commodores sit in 10th place with 64 points.
The competition resumes on Thursday with the prelims at 9 a.m. CT followed by the finals at 5 p.m. All sessions of the championships will air live on SEC Network+.
