NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt lacrosse team earned an at-large bid to the 2021 NCAA Tournament, it was announced Sunday night. The Commodores will face Jacksonville on May 14 in Gainesville, Florida, in the first round of the single-elimination tournament.
The Commodores are making their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2010. Vanderbilt had previously qualified in 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Vandy is 2-6 in NCAA Tournament games. The two wins came in 2004 over Loyola (Md.) and James Madison en route to a Final Four appearance.
The Dores are 12-6 on the season, tying for the second-most wins in program history. A win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament would help this year’s squad tie the program record for wins with 13 set in 2008.
