NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer kicks off the conference portion of its schedule visiting No. 6 Auburn on Thursday evening. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will air on SEC Network+.
The Commodores closed the nonconference schedule last Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky. Vandy’s seven goals marked the most in a match since the 2019 season opener against Georgia State. Senior Rachel Deresky posted two goals in the win, including finding the back of the net just 13 seconds after kickoff to mark the fastest goal in program history. It was Deresky’s second consecutive multi-goal match, making it the first time in her career with back-to-back contests with at least two goals.
Vanderbilt sits 5-0-2 overall, marking the third consecutive season in which the Dores ended nonconference play undefeated. It also marks just the fourth time in program history that Vandy enters SEC play unbeaten.
Auburn enters the contests 8-0-0, just one of four teams in the nation with a perfect win-loss-tie percentage (Kentucky, Stanford, and Utah State). The Tigers have registered eight shutouts this season, seven of which were awarded to keeper Maddie Prohaska. Prohaska has registered 10 saves in eight matches. Olivia Woodson leads the team with six goals this season for 14 points. Woodson has two multi-goal games and was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9.
This season, the two teams have combined for 14 shutouts and scored 52 goals, giving up just one to opponents.
