Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse has announced the signing of Jordan Wright to a National Letter of Intent. Wright will be eligible to compete for the Commodores in the 2019-20 season.
“We’re excited to have Jordan in Nashville,” said Stackhouse. “He truly represents what a Vanderbilt man is all about. Not only does he excel on the basketball floor, but he also is a quality student who is very active in his community. We couldn’t be happier to welcome him and his parents, Yvette and Tracy, to the Vanderbilt Basketball family.”
Wright comes to the Commodores from The Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he averaged 19.1 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game for the Tigers, who finished 28-6 in 2018-19. A powerful and strong guard/forward, Wright is a good ball-handler and can drive to score for himself and can create for others.
As a Junior, he led his team to the 2018 State Championship, where he hit the go-ahead basket with 0.5 seconds remaining. He was named MVP of the game. In his senior season, he led Dunham to a state runner-up finish while earning LWSA all-state honors.
