GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Vanderbilt fell on the road against No. 17 Florida, 18-9, on Saturday at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

The Commodores (9-3, 1-1) suffered their first conference loss of the season after falling behind early.

Vanderbilt’s comeback efforts fell short even though it outscored Florida (7-6, 2-0) in the second half.

Julie Blaze and Cassidy Orban finished the game with hat tricks to account for six of Vanderbilt’s nine goals. They both scored two goals in the second half and one in the first half.

Blaze opened the second half with a goal and closed the game with another with six seconds remaining to finish the scoring.

The Dores also received goals from Melanie Becker, Karlie Bucci and Bri Gross.

Orban got the Commodores on the board in the first half, causing a turnover and turning it into the first goal of the game for Vanderbilt.

Blaze became the second Commodore to score immediately following Orban’s goal, which made it a 5-2 game.
