Championship Journey Ends for Sattelkau

Vandy sophomore finishes NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Vanderbilt’s Celina Sattelkau saw her national championship run come to an end Monday in the fourth and final round of stroke play at the NCAA Champiosnhips at the Grayhawk Club.

Beginning the day tied for 23rd overall and 3-over-par through 54 holes, Sattlekau couldn’t keep the momentum going through her final 18. A double bogey on 8 and bogey on 9 had the German native 2-over-par through nine holes.

On the back nine two bogeys and two more double bogeys left Sattelkau 7-over-par at the end of the day and 10-over-par for the event. She finished tied for 53rd.

Rachel Heck (-8) of Stanford hung on to beat Emma Spitz (-7) of UCLA for the individual stroke play national championship.

Sattelkau finished a remarkable sophomore campaign in which she tied for 11th at the NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio, and third overall at the SEC Championships. She was a first team All-SEC selection and recorded five top-10 finishes during the season.
