Former Commodore standout will play with Whittlesea Pacers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Vanderbilt women’s basketball standout Rachel Bell has signed to play professionally with the Whittlesea Pacers of the Big V League in Whittlesea, Australia.

A product of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee, Bell is ranked 26th on Vanderbilt’s all-time scoring list with 1,156 points. She averaged 11 points in both her junior and senior seasons.

A solid shooter, Bell shot 36 percent from 3-point range and 78 percent from the line over her four-year career.

A frequent SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient, Bell was a double major in psychology and medicine, health and society. She graduated in 2018.

“It’s always been a dream to play professional basketball and go to Australia,” Bell stated.  “This opportunity is giving me the best of both worlds! I’m very excited to start my professional basketball career and to explore what ‘The Land Down Under’ is all about.”

Damon Lowery, head coach of Whittlesea, is very excited about Rachel joining his club. “I’m in the process of building something and I believe Rachel is exactly the kind of person/player to help. After several phone calls with Rachel, I am impressed with her integrity and determination. I plan on her playing point guard and shooting guard, while keeping the scoreboard ticking over. It’s my intent to have Rachel’s first pro experience be extremely special.”

Whittlesea is about 20 miles north of Melbourne in the state of Victoria.
