Homestand Continues at Hawkins Field

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Top-ranked Vanderbilt continues its three-game homestand this weekend, welcoming Pepperdine to Hawkins Field for a three-game series beginning 4:30 p.m on Friday.
 
The middle game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday while the finale will get underway at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The meeting is the first all-time between the two programs and will be the second for the Dores against a California opponent (Cal State Fullerton) this season.
 
All three matchups will be streamed live on the SEC Network Plus with Andrew Harris and Kevin Ingram on the call. SEC Network subscribers can tune in through WatchESPN and the ESPN app. Fans can also listen to the game on the VUCommodores app and locally on WNSR 560 AM/95.9 FM.

The first 500 fans at Hawkins Field on Sunday will receive a replica Salute to Service shirsey. Following the finale, kids can run the bases.

Five Vanderbilt underclassmen pitchers combined to strike out 16 Evansville batters during Wednesday’s 5-4 victory. The 16 strikeouts were the most for a Commodore pitching staff since registering as many on April 11, 2017 against Tennessee Tech (5-2, loss).
 
Vanderbilt is 98-20 (.830) in nonconference games at Hawkins Field since the start of the 2013 season. The Commodores went 12-4 in those games a season ago. Vandy’s best mark during that stretch came in 2016 when the squad finished 20-1.
 
The Commodores have faced an opponent from California in 11 consecutive seasons (2009-present), posting a 33-17 mark in that stretch against Cal State Fullerton, CSU-Northridge, Long Beach State, Oakland, San Diego, San Diego State, Santa Clara, Stanford, UCLA, UC Irvine and USC.

Vanderbilt will host Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and Austin Peay on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. from Hawkins Field. The opener will be the first $2 Tuesday, with fans being able to purchase a hot dog for just $2. Outfield tickets are on sale for a discounted price of $7 for Wednesday’s game.
