GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Alyssa Ballard and Victoria Varano easily made the first cut Thursday after four days and 16 games of qualifying at the U18 Junior Gold Championship.
Ballard and Varano, both heading to Vanderbilt next month to begin their freshman years, ended qualifying in 13th and 17th place, respectively.
The field of 569 has been trimmed to the top 82 to begin Friday’s play in the Advancers Round. Haley Linley of Greenwood, South Carolina, seized the overall top spot after a sparkling day.
A final advancers round follows Thursday’s action before qualifiers advance to a match play bracket.
