NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf is headed back to the Sunshine State to continue its season as the Commodores will compete in the Lady Gators Invitational starting Sunday in Gainesville, Florida.
Vandy began the spring slate with a third-place finish at the FAU Paradise Invitational earlier this month. Trying to improve from that standing could be extra difficult this week give that Nashville and surrounding areas have been covered with heavy snow for days.
“It’s really good getting to Gainesville and seeing grass again,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen said. “Obviously our preparation for this tournament hasn’t been what we hoped for because of the weather in Nashville.
“We’ve got to do a great job of keeping our expectations in check and for me that’s focusing on things we can control like playing hard with a positive attitude.”
Allen will bring the same fivesome to Gainesville that traveled to Boca Raton, Florida, a few weeks ago: Auston Kim, Celina Sattelkau, Jayna Choi, Tess Davenport and Morgan Baxendale. Sattelkau led the Commodores at the FAU event with a third-place finish with Kim came in eighth.
Baxendale is scheduled to be the first Commodore off the tee at 7:50 a.m. CT Sunday.
The Lady Gators Invitational is scheduled to start Sunday. The 54-hole event will conclude Tuesday and be played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course over 6,002 yards and a par of 70.
