Men's cross country at Florida State, track & field in Arkansas

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Everyone is back in action this weekend as the Vanderbilt men’s cross country team will compete at the FSU Winter Classic in Tallahassee, Florida, and the women’s track and field team will head to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to compete in the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday.

The cross country meet will begin at 8 a.m. CT, while the track and field events start at noon CT with pole vault and jumps, while running events kick off at 2 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles and conclude at 6 p.m. with a 4×400 relay.

The Commodores began the indoor track and field season as hosts at the Commodore Indoor on Jan. 15-16 where freshman Haley Bishop and sophomore Madison Fuller broke a 12-year record in the 60-meter dash with times of 7.51 and 7.60 seconds, respectively. A complete recap of the meet can be found here.

This will be the first meet for the men’s cross country team since the SEC Championships on Oct. 30. The Dores were led by junior Matthew Estopinal’s 21st-place finish and accumulated 248 points. Since 1980, that total was only bettered by last season’s 239 points.

Upon returning, the Commodores will start preparing for the two-day Music City Challenge next weekend, Feb. 12-13, in Nashville, Tennessee.
