Men's and women's cross country earn national academic honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Both the Vanderbilt men’s and women’s cross country programs earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2020 cross country season as announced Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Vanderbilt women combined for a 3.646 GPA, while the men had a cumlulative 3.68 GPA.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.

Overall, there were 233 women’s and 199 men’s teams that received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division I.

This season, Vanderbilt’s women finished with 198 points at the SEC Championships to earn the program’s 10th top-six finish in the last 11 years, including the 2011 SEC title, while the men accumulated 248 points—since 1980, that total was only bettered by last season’s 239 points.
